Provider Spotlight – September 2019

| September 23, 2019

For Our Provider Spotlight this month we asked Ann Miller, owner/administrator of Ann’s Bright Beginnings Preschool, LTD in Paulding County to share how participating in Step Up to Quality has positively impacted her program. The program has participated in Step Up to Quality for the past 6 years and has recently earned their three star rating! Thanks again Ann for sharing with us!

Positives of participating in Step Up to Quality:

By participating in SUTQ, we are able to show parents we are providing care that goes above and beyond the requirements of basic licensing. We, at Ann’s Bright Beginnings Preschool, want parents to have access and availability to child care that provides for more than just their child’s basic health and safety needs. By implementing Curriculum and Assessment, as well as Developmental Screening as part of the SUTQ Three Star Requirements, we are able to give our children access to intentional and purposeful activities that prepare them to be successful in Kindergarten.

Advice for those not participating in Step Up to Quality:

I WAS one of these people. I would advise those not in SUTQ to GO FOR IT! Do better for your kids and better for your parents! Take advantage of the resources available to you. When you try to tackle a SUTQ rating on your own it can be very overwhelming but the YWCA Child Care Resource will send someone to your door and will help you every step of the way. The quality of care you provide for children is important!

Plans for maintaining or increasing star rating:

My plans are to keep doing what I’m doing. I would like to look into increasing to a four or a five but right now I am happy with my three star rating. When I am ready, I will definitely contact my specialist at the CCR&R.

How the CCR&R has helped your program:

The CCR&R has been instrumental to my success with achieving my three star rating with Step Up to Quality. The R&R met with me on a monthly basis to help me set goals and stay on task with the Step Up to Quality requirements. They were very encouraging and were my personal cheerleader throughout the entire process.
